PVE to become CA’s HIGHEST Taxed City
Why? PVE is safe and has no social services, developed parks, schools or libraries compared to other cities
Measure PF is the highest City parcel tax in California - almost triple the existing highest by the City of Ross.
But why? What do we get for all this PF money?
Other cities with the existing highest parcel taxes are shown here and each provides developed parks and social services. Berkeley even has city libraries.
PVE does not have any of these expenses.
Is it a Revenue problem or a Spending problem?
Measure PF shows PVE Spending as a Radical Outlier
Here is a comparison of PVE City spending per household compared to other nearby cities:
Measure PF spending is substantially higher than all other cities.
But, why? PVE does not have any schools, developed/maintained parks, social services or libraries like other CA cities.
So, what do we get for all this money?
PVE is Another Outlier
PVE pays the Second Highest Pension Debt Service per Capita and Household in CA
Second only to Atherton, PVE pays more for pension costs than any other CA city.
SOLUTION:
If PVE used a temporary tax to pay down the pension debt, this would redirect $2 M to infrastructure.
PVE pays 3.5-6 times more than the average CA city per capita for pension debt service annually.
